Join us for this 2-day workshop focused on skills and techniques required to produce great video. You'll learn about cameras, lighting, sound, motion techniques and post production workflow. This workshop will be taught by New York-based Jem Schofield, founder of www.theC47.com video blog, co-founder and director of The Filmmaker's Intensive, producer, author and educator who teaches production and post-production solutions throughout North America.

Course Outline:

DAY ONE - May 5 from 9:00 to 5:00

- What are HD-DSLRs & Compact Digital Cinema Cameras?
- An introduction to frame rates, resolutions and sensors in video production and filmmaking
- Screenings and Q&A
- Setting Up Your Camera for Filming
- Lens Options & Considerations
- Recording Sound on Location (including shotguns, lavs & double system sound)
- Lighting Solutions for Video

DAY TWO - May 6 from 9:00 to 5:00

- Monitoring Your Picture
- Camera Support Systems (Tripods & Rigs)
- Shooting Assignments
- Shooting
- Lighting, Shooting & Conducting Interviews
- Working On Set & Managing your Media
- An introduction to Editing in Final Cut Pro X

Lunch will be provided on both days of the workshop.

Who Should Attend?

Photographers that are currently shooting video or are interested in learning how to add video to their portfolio.

What To Bring To Class:

Your Canon, Nikon or Sony camera system and anything else you'd like to use when on your shooting assignments.

About the Instructor

Jem Schofield, producer and educator, is the founder of theC47 (an online and offline resource that produces educational content focused on teaching the craft of video production and film making). He is also the founder and director of The Filmmaker's Intensive, an annual two week program that focuses on narrative film making.

His company, Buttons Productions, produces projects and provides training for an ever expanding client base. Clients include Apple,Inc., CNN, The New York Times, Manfrotto, Abel Cine and Canon U.S.A.

He recently produced a series of HD-DSLR instructional videos for Canon that can be found at EOS HD Video Production Tutorials

Jem is an Apple Mentor Trainer and co-author of the Apple Pro Training Series book entitled Motion 4 Quick-Reference Guide. He is also the co-author of the Apple Pro Training Series book entitled Motion Graphics and Effects in Final Cut Studio 2.
