Creative Urban Photography - London
Taking a storytelling and photojournalistic approach, students are guided through lessening dependence on automatic shooting modes. Semi-automatic and manual camera modes will be explored with the ultimate goal of leveraging the creative capabilities of the camera. This workshop challenges the student to think beyond 'correct' exposure, with the goal of capturing images with an artistic flair. The entire workshop takes places in an urban outdoor setting under the guidance of the photographer Jason Fredin.
Prerequisites:
Any DSLR Part 2 Workshop (Composition & Creativity workshop also recommended)
Course Outline:
- In-depth use of creative shooting modes (aperture/shutter)
- Creative use of depth of field, motion blur and subject blur
- Photojournalistic approaches to storytelling
- Lens selection criteria and lens effects
- Creative use of available light
Who Should Attend?
Students who have taken the above mentioned prerequisite and recommended indoor workshops (or have equivalent knowledge) and are eager to apply what they've learned outside in the real-world environment.
What To Bring To Class:
Your camera
A fully charged battery
Enough memory cards to store plenty of images
A wide angle and telephoto lens (or a single lens with a large focal length range)
MEETING LOCATION INFO:
The starting location for this course will be at the historic Middlesex Courthouse. Your instructor, Jason Fredin, will take you for a walk along the pathway where you will encounter a botanical garden, cyclists and great architecture. You will have the chance to photograph a variety of subjects and learn great techniques.
