DSLR 201: Canon Cameras

In our DSLR 201: Canon Cameras course the emphasis is on understanding the vital roles that Shutter Speed and Aperture play in the photographic process. We'll explore how you can use Shutter Speed to convey motion via blur effects, or to freeze moving subjects. You will also learn how to blur backgrounds while maintaining sharp focus on your subject to create a desirable subject/background separation by controlling the Aperture. We will explore Exposure, Metering Modes and Exposure Lock to provide you greater creative control over the end result.

During the session you will engage in hands-on activities with the guidance of the instructor using your own camera.

This course is an excellent follow up to the beginners course. Bob was great in providing practical experience and knowledge to the course content. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone wanting to learn much more about the Tv and Av functions of you camera. It was eye opening for me. Thanks!

Darrell is an excellent instructor. He gave wonderful tips and hands on demonstrations. All questions were answered. I would recommend others to learn from him or other such workshops offered at Henry's on Stavenger Drive. Great way to update your DSLR knowledge...

I found this course really practical ... after taking it, I've been able to take better pictures by changing the shutter speed & aperture settings. I probably wouldn't have mastered the skills so quickly without taking the course. The instructor was great at answering situation-specific questions, too.

  • Great content, learned a lot

I was very pleased with this course. It started very slowly but soon enough we were into a lot of things that were new to me, or things I thought I understood but really didn't! I took the first course and wasn't really impressed with the instructor; this one though, different location and the instructor was much better, talking to the class at the right technical level, not over-simplifying things and not getting too deep into it. I'd highly recommend this - there were several things I took away immediately that I know will improve my photography & enjoyment of the camera!

This a very good course with an excellent instructor. I didn't find the course content as helpful/eye-opening as the Level 1 course.
