Digital 101 is a ten-week introduction to working with digital images in a PC computer. The course begins with the basics of digital images and gradually introduces advanced skills, permitting each student to learn the skills necessary to get the most out of their digital images. Through class presentations, group critiques, discussions and four assignments, students are provoked to push their digital skills further.

Students should bring four image files to class each week for group review and discussion (these images may be from digital cameras or scans from film images). Requirements: A working knowledge of a PC computer. This course is designed for the digital camera user but is appropriate for all digital image users. The class will be presented using a PC computer running Windows Vista, with a variety of software (IrfanView, Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe Lightroom 3, Proshow Gold). Course assignments can be produced using evaluation versions of software and software alternatives will be discussed. If a student is unsure about their proficiency level, they should e-mail the instructor before registering.
