Fabulous Course!

Today in Brampton, I took my first ever DSLR course. I knew nothing about my Cannon Rebel. I now feel comfortable with it, and can't wait to make use of all of the information given during the course. Cyndal, our instructor, was excellent, and even helped me find some additional equipment after the course, which she didn't have to do. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and having the class notes available for download on my computer made me focus on the class, and experiment, rather than constantly having to take notes. Thank you Cyndal, thank you Henry's!

Fantastic! If you're new to using a Canon DSLR sign up NOW!

If you have recently purchased a Canon DSLR and are new to shooting outside of Auto Mode, you MUST take this course! I thought I could figure out things on my own but I can now say that having someone walk you through every feature of the camera will help you maximize its potential and take better pictures.
I've had my Canon Rebel T3i for nearly a year. It's been to a wedding in Punta Cana, a trip to New York, to several parties and family gatherings. While I did get a few nice shots from each event, I was disappointed that I wasn't getting a larger volume of good shots. I had been spending way too much time fumbling with flash, modes and menus. Within minutes of attending this course, I already got my money's worth! And I was about 20 minutes late arriving to boot! LOL! On that note, late or not, people will forget things quickly. Not to worry as Henry's gives you a password to access the class notes / presentation so you can go back and reread whatever you like.
Our instructor, Brennen, was excellent! He kept topics moving along so no one got bored but he also didn't talk "over our heads". He addressed questions from beginners and more advanced students alike. I was amazed at how quickly the course time flew by. It's 100% hands on so you get to snap away at things in the classroom to test out features as you learn. Brilliant!
This course exceeded my expectations and I would recommend it to anyone new to this kind of camera. Think about it, after spending hundreds of dollars on such a sophisticated piece of equipment, you owe it to yourself to make the small investment to learn how to use all of its features!
Thanks Henry's! You rock! Looking forward to taking 201 soon and perhaps even the Travel Photography and Food Photography courses someday!

Was good but........

I am new to SLR photography (used a point and shoot camera for years) and the course was good and imformative but:
A roll call should have been held between students (i.e instructor asks every student their name, how much experience they have and what they expect to gain of out the course).
No real mention about shutter speeds, aperture and a brief overview on ISO. I still don't know what these terms mean, so I will go on and look this stuff up myself on the web. I think the course could have been a hour longer and concentrated on these features.
There did not seem to be any drinking facilities there either....if I had known, I would have brought my own.
A list of what is provided on the course displayed on the website would have been nice (e.g. bring a notepad, drinks, etc). Maybe a suggestion for the future......
The instructor had good experience, but seemed a bit clumsy with the Canon menus and some of the class had to tell him what some of the menus did!
I wish there were tables within the training room, the room seemed a bit too informal for me, but that is my opinion and this just stemed from other training courses that I have attended over several years.
I did ask lots of questions at the end of the course, and the instructor was very good about this, and did not kick anyone out.
A good course as this gets over the fear of using the camera (like me!!) and the instructor was very good at making people feel at ease, and did not make any feel stupid when they asked a question.
Thank you Henry's!!
